Korean RECs for operations in Korea

Korean RECs.
Direct from Generators.

Source renewable energy certificates (RECs) for electricity used at your operations in Korea. You contract directly with Korean renewable energy generators. CARBON STAR, authorized by the generators to sell their RECs, manages the transaction process, and buyers are not charged a separate brokerage fee.

A direct contract, a clear fee position, one local team.

A direct contract with the generator, a clear fee position, and one team handling the Korean process.

Your REC sale and purchase agreement is signed with the generator that supplies the RECs. You know who the counterparty is and which facility the certificates come from.

03 How It Works

Who does what in a Korean REC purchase

CARBON STAR does not buy and resell RECs. The certificates are sold by the generator to you under your agreement with the generator.

  • Contract
    Buyer ↔ Generator

    REC sale and purchase agreement

The generator is the seller. Price, volume, delivery and transfer terms are set in this agreement.

  • Contract
    Generator ↔ CARBON STAR

    Sales mandate and revenue sharing

The generator authorizes CARBON STAR to carry out REC sales work. CARBON STAR is compensated under its arrangement with the generator.

  • Support
    CARBON STAR ↔ Buyer

    Quotation, contract progress and administration

We are your working contact for quotes, term discussions, contract steps and transaction administration. CARBON STAR is not the seller of the RECs.

04 Supply Information

What you see before you commit

Supply changes with generator availability, so we don't publish a fixed inventory or price list. Send us your requirements and we'll share matching options with the details below.

01Generation source
Technology of the supplying facility, e.g. solar or wind
02Facility location
Region in Korea where the generator is located
03Commercial operation date
The facility's commercial operation date (COD), relevant to facility-age criteria
04Generation period / vintage
The period in which the underlying electricity was generated
05Available volume
Volume offered for sale, stated in MWh with the corresponding certificate quantity
06Delivery timing
When RECs can be transferred under the agreement
07Suitability check
Points to review against your purpose, e.g. target site, reporting year, vintage and facility age
08Information date
The date the supply information was confirmed

Capacity is not volume. A generator's installed capacity (MW) is not the same as the RECs available for sale (MWh). Quotes state the volume offered in MWh together with the corresponding number of certificates.

Pricing is provided by quotation. REC prices depend on supply, vintage, volume and timing.

Official certificates and REC use confirmations are issued through Korea's official system, not by CARBON STAR. We support the steps within the agreed scope.

06 FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q01Who will we sign the REC purchase agreement with?

With the generator. The REC sale and purchase agreement is between your purchasing entity and the Korean renewable energy generator that supplies the RECs. CARBON STAR is not the seller and does not resell RECs. We act as the generator's authorized sales agent and manage the process with you.

Q02Does CARBON STAR charge buyers a brokerage fee?

No. CARBON STAR does not charge buyers a separate brokerage fee. The REC price and other commercial terms are set out in your agreement with the generator. Any other costs that may apply to the transaction are confirmed with you during quotation, before you sign.

Q03How is CARBON STAR compensated?

CARBON STAR is compensated by the generator side, under a revenue-sharing arrangement agreed with the generator. The terms of that arrangement are confidential between CARBON STAR and the generator.

Because we act on behalf of generators, we are not an independent advisor to the buyer. We share supply information openly so your team can make its own assessment.

Q04Can our global or APAC team coordinate procurement for our Korean operations?

Yes. Your headquarters or APAC team can be our main contact for quotation, term discussions and scheduling.

The entity that signs the agreement and in whose name REC use is confirmed is a separate question. It is generally the entity that uses electricity at the Korean site, so it is usually your Korean entity. We confirm the correct contracting and use-confirmation entity with you early in the process.

Q05What information is needed for a quotation?

To start: your Korean site or entity (or "still being determined"), the target use or reporting year, and the required volume in MWh (or "not yet determined"). If you have them, also share your preferred timing, any requirements on generation source, vintage or facility age, and the reporting standard you follow.

Q06What documentation can be provided?

The documentation for each transaction is agreed in advance. It can include the executed agreement, supply information on the generator (source, location, commercial operation date, generation period), and transaction and settlement records.

Official certificates and REC use confirmations come from Korea's official system. CARBON STAR does not issue them.

Q07How is suitability for our reporting requirements assessed?

We check supply information against your stated criteria: the target site, the generating facility, the vintage, and the standard you report against (for example, RE100 technical criteria such as facility-age requirements).

Whether RECs are accepted under a given standard depends on that standard and on your company's own review. We do not guarantee that any REC meets every framework.

Q08Can you support recurring procurement?

We're happy to discuss recurring or multi-year needs. Availability, volumes and terms depend on generator supply at the time, and are confirmed in each agreement.
